For wrinkles and fine lines
Moderate evidenceA 2023 systematic review of randomized controlled trials concluded topical vitamin C usefully improves photodamaged skin, with treated skin appearing smoother and less wrinkled than placebo-treated skin across the included vehicle-controlled trials. Trials are mostly small (dozens of patients) and 12 weeks to 6 months long, and formulations vary widely, which limits how precisely effects can be estimated.
Randomized trials support this use, but they are few, small, or short. The effect is probably real. The size of it is less certain.
